New Group Set to Deliver More Homes

A new housing group aiming to offer a different way of working together to create more affordable homes and help social landlords improve services to tenants has been founded.

Central Borders Housing Group has been created to attract other, like-minded organisations, to provide high-quality services that organisations can procure – such as planned maintenance, responsive repairs, development and corporate support through to group membership, which offers members equal status and control of their own identity.

Central Borders Housing Group was launched this week by South Staffordshire Housing Association, based at Acton Gate, near Stafford, which has ten years experience managing around 5,300 affordable homes in the area.

With a track record of successfully delivering new homes in both urban and rural locations thanks to the work of South Staffordshire Housing Association, the group is already set to start on more than 220 properties over the next two years.

“Our strengths lie in using innovation to develop new homes through effective use of our financial strength, our ability to access a range of funding streams and in our leading repairs and maintenance service, which is among the best in the country,” said group chief executive Debbie Griffiths.

“We aim to develop strong partnerships with like-minded organisations with a culture rooted in customer care, to provide high-quality services and outstanding homes.

“It is an exciting time for us and we are looking forward to working with new members to deliver affordable housing in that people want to live in.”
