Hyperlinks
A hyperlink is a piece of text or an image that links to a file, email address or web page. A text hyperlink is conventionally indicated by appearing in blue and underlined.
In line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – our hyperlinks are formatted to help 'clearly identify the target of each link' in the following ways;
Appropriate Link Text
This is the text that appears in the link itself and should as a rule reflect the name of the item being linked to.
Tool Tips
Where deemed necessary – we use something called a ‘title attribute’ to provide extra or more descriptive information that is not present in the Link Text. This information appears in most browsers as a tool tip on mouse over.
This can be important for menu links that are conventionally kept short. For example a link to “About Us” may have a tooltip of “About Central Borders Housing Group”
