Board of Management
The Group Board of Management, has the sole responsibility for the Group's overall direction, and for ensuring that it has appropriate staff to achieve its strategy and plans and stated standards of service. Our Board of Management reflects a broad and varied cross section which is supplemented by members nominated by partner organisations within the Group.
Membership
The Board consists of five Members who all receive a nominal payment in recognition of their services plus reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses, such as travel costs.
Membership consists of:
- Five Independent Board Members who are elected in staggered rotation for a three year period by the shareholding members of the Group.
- Two Board Members nominated annually to the Group by each member organisation.
This mix is designed to ensure that the Group is effectively governed and managed through its Board structures, Group Mangagement Team, Strategies and Policies, with each partner organisation being represented equally on the Group Board.
Skills
Our Board Members collectively possess a multitude of professional skills, including accountancy, finance, banking, law, corporate management, housing management, together with a deep involvement in promoting sustainable affordable housing.
A review of the skills and experience of the Board of Management takes place on an annual basis, with the Board assessing its collective level of experience in those skills identified by the Housing Corporation as being generally necessary for running a registered social landlord. The Board seeks to fill gaps in this collective level of experience, through open advertisements for new independent members whenever necessary.
The Role of the Board of Management
The Board acts for and in the name of the Group, and retains ultimate control over all aspects of the Group's work and must ensure that its financial and legal responsibilities are fulfilled. The powers of the Board are wide and, although particular functions may be delegated to a sub-committee, a subsidiary Board or to the Group Management Team and staff, the Board retains the responsibility for seeing that those functions are properly carried out.
